Turmeric is a yellow aromatic root spice that has the botanical name Curcuma longa. This is an aromatic spice related to ginger that is often used in Indian cuisine. Due to its color, this spice also gets the name the “golden spice.” You can use turmeric in cooking to give curries, rice, and stews a beautiful orange or yellow color.

மஞ்சள் பொடியை உணவில் சேர்த்துச் சாப்பிடும்போது அதிலுள்ள சத்துக்கள் உடலில் நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தியை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. இது உடலிலுள்ள செல்களுக்கு முழு பாதுகாப்பை தருகிறது. 

மஞ்சளில் உள்ள குர்க்குமின் (விதையிலுள்ள ஒரு ரசாயனப் பொருள்) என்ற நிறமிதான் அதன் மஞ்சள் நிறத்துக்குக் காரணமாக உள்ளது. இந்த  ரசாயனப் பொருள் புற்றுநோய்க் கட்டி ஏற்படாமல் தடுக்கவும், ரத்தக் குழாய்களில் அடைப்பு ஏற்படாமல் தடுக்கவும், பாக்டீரியாக்களின்  தாக்குதலை முறியடிக்கவும் உதவுகிறது.
